Heading to Nationals

The Magic Epilepsy Glove, created by 4th-grade students, won the 2024 regional competition, representatives from Toshiba/ExploraVision were onsite to honor our students. St. Joseph School is the only school in  Washington to reach the national title round in the 4-6 division. Our students also received a record number of Honorable mentions. Thank you to Laura Laun for her leadership and to all the parent volunteers and previous national winning teams that helped mentor our students. The program, in its eighth year, has produced 4 national winners, 5 regional winners and 39 Honorable Mentions.

Our Program

St. Joseph School has been recognized nationally each year since 2016. Our teams have won the national titles in 2023, 2022, 2020, and 2019. Our STEAM program has been spearheaded by Laura Laun, and each year she continues to lead our ever-expanding program to the highest level of competition.

Our STEAM brings together science, technology, art, engineering, and mathematics to solve a problem and design a future technology invention.  Students will work in teams to brainstorm and innovate new solutions to solve a problem of their team's choice.

Teams have a chance to submit their ideas to the world's largest STEAM competition, ExploraVision, with a chance to win a $10,000 savings bond per student and a trip to Washington D.C. for the awards ceremony. All participants will receive a certificate of achievement and a STEAM prize from the competition.
